The Dallas Cowboys Trade for George Pickens

The Cowboys love to make headlines and after missing out on a top receiver in the draft, they quickly turned their attention to grabbing George Pickens from the Steelers. Dallas have been crying out for No.2 guy to complement Ceedee Lamb and this move should solve a big problem for first year head coach, Brian Schottenheimer. Since being drafted in 2022, Pickens has played under 5 different, uninspiring, quarterbacks in Pittsburgh but has still managed an impressive average of 16.3 yards per catch. Concerns about his maturity were raised by the Steelers and their head coach, Mike Tomlin, which may have ultimately led to Pittsburgh being open to trading away their top weapon but reports out of the Cowboys' Camp have been positive and Jerry Jones is no stranger to dealing with players with larger than life personalities. Expect Pickens to top 1,000 yards this season with a healthy Dak Prescott back leading the line for Big D.

Davante Adams Signs with the Los Angeles Rams

Sticking with wide receivers who will suit up for a new team in 2025, Davante Adams deciding to sign a two year deal with the Rams feels like a perfect fit. After departing Green Bay in 2022, Adams has been stuck on underachieving and mediocre teams in the Raiders and the Jets but has continued to churn out 1,000 yard seasons for fun. In the meantime, the Rams decided to move on from franchise legend, Cooper Kupp, following three injury-hit seasons, opening up a spot on the offence, alongside Puka Nacua. Getting a veteran like Adams into the building should allow for a seamless transition as the Rams look to defend their NFC West crown. 

The Bears Build Around Caleb

Caleb Williams came into the league as an undeniably talented player who deserved the No.1 overall pick status and his rookie season was by no means bad but as with most young quarterbacks he needed time to adjust to the speed of the NFL. Overshadowed by the No.2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels, who led his Commanders team to an NFC Championship game, Williams' season was mostly plagued by a lack of protection up front. Chicago made moves quickly to bolster their offensive line, bringing in Guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson before using both their first and second round picks in the draft on some further offensive weapons with Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III joining a recieving group that already includes players like DJ Moore and last years' No.9 overall pick, Rome Odunze. All of these moves should not only help Williams make a leap forward in his sophomore season but should also help to settle in new head coach, Ben Johnson, who was the offensive mastermind behind the Detriot Lions' meteoric rise. 

Las Vegas Hires Pete Carroll

When Ben Johnson chose the Bears, the rest of the head coaching dominoes began to fall into place and the Las Vegas Raiders landed Pete Carroll, a year on from leaving the Seahawks. During his time in Seattle, Carroll cemented his name as one of the all time great head coaches, reaching two Super Bowls and lifting the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLVIII. He helped to build one of great NFL defensive groups, known as the 'Legion of Boom' while adopting an exciting style of offense around Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch. Las Vegas have struggled to find consistency on and off the field for much of the 21st century but a man as experienced as Pete Carroll should be able to steady the ship and begin to lay some real building blocks for the future of Raiders football. 

The Minnesota Vikings Bet on McCarthy

When JJ McCarthy was drafted 10th overall by the Vikings in 2024, he was coming off a championship winning season at Michigan and was expected to battle Sam Darnold for QB1 in Minnesota. After flashing some great throws in his first preseason outing, McCarthy's rookie season was abruptly ended before it really ever begun; a torn meniscus handed the starting job to Darnold, who went on to lead the Vikings to a 14-3 record. After a season like that, despite the ugly playoff loss to the Rams, Sam Darnold was due a payday and Minnesota chose to let him walk and put their faith in McCarthy, saving themselves a lot of money in the process. He may be an anomaly, who has never taken a meaningful snap in the NFL, but that is what makes JJ McCarthy all the more intriguing and he will be one to follow as the season rolls on. With a supporting cast including Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson, he has all the tools to succeed.
